PhotoQuest 44 - Pets (Catoblepas and Thunderbunny)
While it is true that I have already looked at all the entries ahead of mine and realize that you guys totally showed me up with your pets and their innate cutenessity, I still wanna show off my local varmints.
Below is the cat that we belong to. She was born to a pair of alleycats that have made our backyard their hunting grounds for mice and stray leftovers, but of all the kitties in her litter, she is the only one to allow herself to become domesticated. Her domestication became official about a month ago when Pooky gave her the name 'Catoblepas'.
In spite of what the linked Wiki says about the mythical monster, our Catoblepas' only real talents involve always being on the wrong side of the door, running underfoot, and being able to hear me switching on my camera from twelve miles away. Getting a shot of her behaving like a regal feline is not easily accomplished.

Next is Thunderbunny, who we inherited from my stepdaughter about a year and a half ago. She probably weighs in at about 25 pounds now and particularly fancies the oregano rabbit treat pellets Pooky has been feeding her. When she's not eating, she is thundering around (rather literally) in her hutch playing with her favourite chunk of cedar or her cardboard paper towel tube. The other cute and fuzzy creature in the picture with his head cut off is Pooky

Anyway, it feels good to be back in the quest. I am really having fun with the new 50mm prime lens I got for belated Christmas too. My portrait-fu is still rather lacking, but like they say, practice makes perfect.
GREAT PHOTOS, GUYS! Keep up the good work!
